After Petrol?

With ever rising fuel costs we thought it might be interesting to look at what the future holds for motoring enthusiasts.

With the average price or petrol at about 83p per litre, you have to start asking yourself what else could you do. Well there are a couple of viable and not so viable options for you to consider.

Hydrogen Powered Cars

Hydrogen is one of the most plentiful resources on the planet which is why it is such a good choice to step in for pertrol power when the time comes to make the switch.

This technology has been in development for many years and the major car manufacturers see this as the next viable fuel source for the world. At present there are a few very expensive prototypes making the rounds in the motoring community that show us exactly what is in store for the future.

Major car companies expect that most people should be able to buy a hydrogen powered car by 2012.

Vegetable Powered Cars

Yes that's right, vegetable oil can be used to power cars, tractors and any manner of mechanical machinery. With the right treatment, simple vegetable oil can be used as fuel for your car, the emmssions from this kind fuel are very clean and is also renewable.

Whether this kind of fuel will ever tryuly make an impact is another matter but there are certainly many kinds of viable alternatives for petrol in the pipeline.
