During this time of year when the skies darken a little earlier certain car crimes can become more widespread. One of these is known as 'carjamming'. This crime is can be encouraged in a way by the driver himself due to being careless. Most of us use the practice of locking our cars when we are parked on the street or in a multi-story park. This gives our cars the most basic protection we can give it. Many of us do not however lock our cars when we are driving on the roads. Carjamming refers to thieves who prey on unlocked cars while they may be stationary for a moment at a traffic light. If the driver has valuables on the passenger seat in plain view from the outside of the car, these can be seen by the thief and stolen right away. This can be a shock to the driver as it's something that someone does not really expect and because of this it would be hard to stop.
It has been advised by the police that extra vigilance is required during these winter months. Always lock the car doors when driving and remember to put valuables under the seat if possible. And of course have adequate car insurance cover as well. Great deals can be had from many companies including insureyourmotor.co.uk.
