Insurance companies have revealed a new trend which could haves serious effects for drivers with modified cars. Criminals are now targeting cars which have been modified so that they are able to scam there way into huge insurance claims of the drivers. The way they go about this is to first carefully target drivers who they think will pay up a huge sum and those with obviously modified cars. The next step is to veer in front of them on the road and at some point push the breaks hard so the driver in the back has no choice but to bump into the back of the criminal's car. This, in most cases, causes a lot of damage to the criminal's car and then they proceed to submit massive insurance claims. This is forcing insurance companies to push up the price of their premiums which passes on the cost to the ordinary driver.
If this trend continues to grow, it is always wise to follow the following basic points.
1. Always protect your no claims bonus as this knocks of a substantial amount of your premium.
2. Add a more experienced older driver to your insurance policy.
3. Try and pay a higher excess than you normally would, i.e. around £200 and over.
4. Its always good to pay your premium in a lump sum.
5. And lastly, the best advice for any purchase, shop around!
