On this page we thought that it might be a good idea to revisit the highway code. It's always useful to know that sign means or what speed you can do depending on the number of lanes etc.
List of Common Rules that People Don't Obey/Know About
Listed below are some of the most common rules that are disobeyed, they're there for a reason so perhaps you might like to know why.
We've listed the speed limits for various classes of vehicles, this is why trucks are usually going slower than you on single carriageways, they're restricted to 40mph.

1. When you're on the motorway, you should ALWAYS be in the left hand lane unless overtaking. This means that at 2 in the morning you shouldn't be in the middle lane when there's nothing else around.
2. You MUST stop for people at zebra crossings. If you have time to stop safely then you're obliged to.
3. Just recently the government have brought in a law concering the use of the mobile phones whilst driving. As the law stands today, you must have the device in a cradle, this means that you are not allowed to hold it in your hand AT ALL while the vehicle is moving or the engine is running.
Of course these are just a few points concerning the laws on our roads, if you'd like more information you can see the full highway code here.
