The roads have changed dramatically from ten years ago and the trend seems set to continue with new technology bringing the UK road systems up to date.

The government needs to do something as the roads are reported to be in the worst condition they have been for over a decade. With this in mind the government have started testing new technology in an attempt to improve the roads. This new technology includes:

Crash Barriers - A new type of crash barrier has been developed to also protect more vulnerable roads users such as motorcyclists.

Heated Roads - Heated roads are being tested in the UK that will store summer heat and release it during the winter months leading to no more icy roads.

Intelligent cats eyes - Already used in some parts of the UK these cats eyes actually light up in the dark with some even flashing to warn of danger and solar powered.

Cat eye speed cameras - In an attempt to reduce speeding in the UK new speed cameras have been developed to fit into cats eyes on the road catching more motorists.

In closing, something has to be done about the state of the roads because motorists are staring to get fed up. The majority of us pay our road tax and have adequate fast car insurance but have to travel on poor quality roads. Maybe the government needs to speed up this testing before we find our road network crumbling away all together.
